Jeffords moving to Washington

Retired Vermont Senator Jim Jeffords will be leaving his Shrewsbury home to live in the Washington area near his children.

The family decision to have the 72-year-old Jeffords move to Washington came in the aftermath of the death of his wife, Liz almost two weeks ago.

The family says the details of the living arrangements have not been finalized, but they are considering retirement facilities in the Washington area.

Jeffords cited his own failing health when he announced two years ago that he would not seek a fourth term in the Senate.

Liz Jeffords had a recurrence of ovarian cancer and decided earlier this year to forego treatment.

Senator Jeffords retired in January.
