The man accused of abducting 12-year-old Brooke Bennett of Braintree is scheduled appear in court this week.

A probable cause hearing will be held Wednesday for 42-year-old Michael Jacques, a convicted sex offender, who’s accused of kidnapping his niece, a week before her body was found near his Randolph home.

No one has been charged in her death.

Authorities say Jacques used the girl’s MySpace page and a series of e-mails he sent using aliases to plan her abduction.

The court hearing originally had been scheduled for July 30, but prosecutors sought an extension.

Also charged in the case is Raymond Gagnon, Brooke’s former stepfather, who faces obstruction of justice charges in her disappearance.
