Interview: young people leave Vermont

For years after a census is taken, census-takers crunch numbers in ways to fin out what Americans are doing and where they’re doing it. The ‘where’ is important now because new figures from the 2000 census indicate that young people are leaving the state at an alarming rate. In some Vermont counties the exodus of young adults is five times the national average. Chris Delia worries about things like that because he is commissioner of Vermont’s Department of Economic Development.
