Climate change, suburban sprawl, transitions to organic farming all have a say in whether communities can create a sustainable environment and healthy economy.

The Nature Conservancy and Vermont Earth Institute have been hosting a series of discussion groups around the state on these critical issues, and another will be held Sunday featuring Tom Wessels, a professor of Ecology who lives in Westminster, Vermont, and is the author of the new book – “The Myth of Progress: Toward a Sustainable Future.”

Wessels spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about the discussion and says the central myth about progress is that expansion
always goes hand in hand with economic success.

Note: The discussion group will take place Sunday, November 5th at the Congregational Church in Middlebury beginning at 2:00pm. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information or to reserve your seat, call (802) 229-4425
