To borrow a phrase from politics .as goes Lake Champlain, so goes Vermont. And maybe parts of New York and Quebec as well.

The health of Lake Champlain is very much on the mind of Tom Berry, who joins the Nature Conservancy as the new Director of the Lake Champlain Program.

Berry is the former natural resource policy advisor for the now-retired Senator Jim Jeffords and Vermont’s newest senator Bernie Sanders.

He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb and says he knows when it comes to keeping the Lake healthy now and in the future, there are a lot of obstacles to overcome.
