Interview: Teens compete in Texas birding competition

Ask some Vermont teenagers, who spent their spring break in Texas last week, what they thought of the trip and they’ll tell you it was for the birds. That doesn’t mean they didn’t having a good time in the southern Rio Grande Valley. They were actually right where they wanted to be: competing in the annual Great Texas Birding Classic, one of the largest birding competitions in the country.

Mitch Wertlieb talks with Chip Darmstadt of the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, who’s coached the team of eight Vermonters.
