Interview: Smart growth and sprawl

(Mitch Wertlieb) Traffic congestion, loss of open space, and stagnant downtowns struggling against businesses that set up shop in the suburbs. All these problems are associated with sprawl. And [on Thursday], an all-day forum is taking place in Burlington to share strategies for limiting sprawl while getting a report card of sorts on how Vermont’s state government has been dealing with the issue.

The keynote speaker at the conference will be Parris Glendening, president of the newly formed Smart Growth Leadership Institute and the former Governor of the state of Maryland. Parris Glendening joins us now.
