Nearly 400 cancer survivors and their families from all over the U.S. and Canada will be coming to Stowe tomorrow for the 7th annual “Stowe Weekend of Hope”.
The event is described as a celebration of life’ for cancer patients and their families. The 3-day gathering offers educational sessions and the chance to learn more about coping with the disease.
The guest speaker at tomorrow’s opening ceremony will be Marcelle Leahy, wife of Senator Patrick Leahy. She spoke with VPR’s Neal Charnoff about what got her interested in the weekend.
Note: Marcelle Leahy speaks at 4:00 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Stowe Mountain Resort. Senator Patrick Leahy will accompany his wife at the Opening Ceremony.
Senator Bernie Sanders and Governor Jim Douglas also plan to attend the Stowe Weekend of Hope.
