Interview: Felice Bellman, New Hampshire civil union bill

New Hampshire has become just the 4th state in the nation to pass a bill authorizing civil unions for gay couples. And prior to 2006, you may have had a hard time finding anyone who would place bets on the Granite State being the next to join Vermont, New Jersey and Connecticut in that distinction.

Felice Bellman is the managing editor of the Concord Monitor in New Hampshire, and she says the movement of the bill from conception to approval was a surprise to many, but can be traced directly to New Hampshire’s recent shifting political winds. She spoke with VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb about the bill.
