Lucchino and General Manager Theo Epstein with the high expectations of another nation – Red Sox nation – squarely on the shoulder of his powerful right arm.

The Red Sox are committing millions of dollars to a hurler who has yet to throw a single pitch in the major leagues, but as ESPN’s Buster Olney says, the pressure to get a deal done was even greater on Matsuzaka than on the Red Sox. Olney spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about the pitcher.
