The University of Vermont has received an $11 million grant which will help launch the Vermont Center for Immunology and Infectious Diseases.

The grant will allow UVM to conduct five new studies on what are known as “priority pathogens”, infectious agents that affect the health of millions of people worldwide.

Dr. Ralph Budd is the Director of the Immunobiology program. He spoke with VPR’s Neal Charnoff and says this grant will build on UVM’s expertise in immune response to infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses and parasites.
