Putting patents over patients. That’s what many in the international medical community say is happening in some of the neediest parts of the world.

Access to affordable, life-saving medicines will be the topic of discussion at the University of Vermont today, and Dr. Buddhima Lokuge of Doctors Without Borders will lead that discussion.

He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about the today’s event. He says it’s critical that the issue of medicines too expensive for much of the developing world be discussed in a University setting because many colleges and Universities are part of the problem:
