(Steve Delaney) This is “First Monday” – so named because the new Supreme Court session starts every year on the first Monday in October. It’s a day when legal scholars tend to assess the issues in play as justices begin their deliberations. One of those issues is, what happens to civil liberties in a post-9/11 environment?

At Vermont Law School, professor Michael Mello is involved in a discussion of civil liberties and the new America that will be held at the law school Monday. Mr. Mello, welcome to Morning Edition.
