(Mitch Wertlieb) It seems appropriate that some of the most exciting and nerve-wracking playoff games in the history of major league baseball have led up to this – the 100th anniversary of the World Series. The 2003 Fall Classic begins Saturday night with the American League champion New York Yankees taking on the Florida Marlins at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

And joining us on the line now is Bill Littlefield, host of NPR’s “Only a Game” and the author of the new book “Fall Classics: The Best Writing about the World Series’ First Hundred Years.” Bill Littlefield thanks for joining us.
