For better or for worse, author Steve Almond claims to have eaten a piece of candy every day in his life. Almond has embraced his obsession by writing the new memoir “Candyfreak: A Journey Through the Chocolate Underbelly of America.” The book recounts his quest to discover candy’s origins here, and describes his visits to the unsung independent candy companies across the country.
