Sonata #1 for Riley Red is the new children’s book by Middlebury author and illustrator Phoebe Stone.

The book takes place in 1960’s Cambridge, Massachusetts. 13 year old Rachel Townsend is a loner who’s living with a family secret.

Rachel teams up with four other outsiders from her school, and they embark on a series of misadventures rescuing cats and protesting for animal rights, culminating in a daring nighttime rescue of a neglected circus elephant.

Sonata #1 for Riley Red is Phoebe Stone’s second children’s novel. She joins us in our Colchester studios…
