Longtime state Senator Vincent Illuzzi is circulating petitions to run for state auditor.
Illuzzi says he hasn’t made a final decision whether to run, but he’s asking voters to sign his petitions now because the deadline for filing is a little more than a week away.
Incumbent Auditor Tom Salmon decided last month not to run for re-election.
Illuzzi hasn’t decided whether he would run as a Republican or an independent. He says he’s circulating petitions for both to preserve his options.
The deadline to file for all political offices in this fall’s elections is a week from Thursday.
