Illinois House approves civil unions similar to Vermont’s

A movement that started in Vermont seven years ago may be taking hold in its fifth state.

A committee in the Illinois House has approved civil union legislation similar to that passed in Vermont.

Since Vermont’s historic legislation, Connecticut and New Jersey have passed civil union laws, California has passed a similar domestic partnership law and Massachusetts has enacted full same sex marriage.
