The Vermont lighting company Hubbardton Forge of Castleton has laid off 13 workers as it continues to cope with the effects of the weak economy.

Hubbardton Forge President Bob Dillon says the company made "decent profits," but business has still not returned to normal.

This week’s layoffs are on top of 26 layoffs last year. The company now employs 188 people.

In addition to the layoffs, the company reduced production hours last year by 20 percent.

But Dillon tells the Rutland Herald workers will return to a regular production schedule next week.

Hubbardton Forge sells high-end lighting products and accessories.
