A Vermont House committee is going to take testimony from the public about the use of stun guns.

The House Government Operations Committee will hold a hearing Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the Statehouse in Montpelier.

People who wish to testify will be able to sign up personally. Each person will be given two minutes to make a statement.

Lawmakers are considering two bills related to police use of stun guns this session. One calls for uniform statewide training and standards for officers using them, and the other would require that embedded digital memory chips that record each use of the weapons would be subject to public record.
