Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff will be in Burlington today to discuss Vermont’s plans for enhanced driver’s licenses that could be used as identification to cross the Canadian border.

Douglas will meet privately with Chertoff privately before a news conference at the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles office on Burlington’s North Avenue.

The state of Vermont is working with Homeland Security on a pilot project that would enable Vermonters to enter Canada and return to the United States without a passport, an upcoming security requirement.
