The choral group, Counterpoint, performs a series of Christmas concerts each year. VPR records those concerts and puts together an annual highlight program, Vermont Christmas with Counterpoint, which airs nationally the following year on NPR. One of the selections in this year’s program, and a great crowd pleaser is Haitian Noel. The song is a Haitian Creole carol that tells the story of angels visiting the shepherds. It’s sung to a meringue rhythm.
