New Hampshire Congressman Paul Hodes wants the government to stop putting seniors’ Social Security numbers on Medicare cards in order to prevent identity theft.

He’s introduced the Medicare Card Security Act to protect senior citizens.

Hodes says enrolling in Medicare should not leave seniors "vulnerable to the crime of identity theft that could endanger their retirement."

A similar bill has already been introduced in the Senate.

More than 600 New Hampshire residents were the victims of identity theft in 2006.
