New Hampshire’s Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes voted against the budget bill approved in Congress this week, saying it included more money for the war in Iraq, with no plans for a change in U.S. policy there.

The bill included an amendment added by the Senate for 70 billion dollars for the war.

Shea-Porter said Iraq is a sinkhole. She said she has voted for money to provide for a safe way for American troops to leave, but could not support open-ended funding.

Hodes said the money included in the bill comes with no plan for change in Iraq. He called it a blank check for the president.
