New Hampshire Congressman Paul Hodes has introduced a bill to address the home foreclosure crisis and guard against the potential misuse of taxpayer dollars.

The bill would give bankruptcy judges the authority, if necessary, to modify "toxic," subprime mortgages and prevent as many as 600,000 foreclosures.

Hodes says the bill would give more tools for homeowners to renegotiate the terms of their loan.

Massachusetts Congressman Bill Delahunt introduced the bill with Hodes, and a similar bill has been introduced in the Senate.
