The stepfather of a Cabot man killed in a hit and run accident Sunday night is being charged in the case.

Vermont State Police say that 46-year-old William Luther of Cabot was driving the vehicle that hit and killed 27-year-old Jason Bear.

Luther appeared in court today where he pleaded not guilty . He was ordered held on $15,000 bail.

Luther went to police yesterday and said he was intoxicated when he hit Bear.

State Police Sergeant John Flannigan says it appears that it was a coincidence that Luther hit Bear.
