Hartford Delays Vote On Closing School

School officials in Hartford have postponed a vote on whether to close elementary schools as part of a consolidation plan.

More than 60 people packed into a school library Wednesday night for a tense debate on whether to close both White River School and Ottauquechee School or just one.

The state Department of Education is awaiting word on Hartford’s consolidation plan before determining how much state aid might be made available for it.

But the Valley News reports that the school board put off a decision for another month, saying it wanted more input from teachers on the impact of the proposed consolidation plan on students.
