Halifax Looks Into Seasonal Pay Rate For Its Road Crew

The town of Halifax is looking into a seasonal pay rate for its road crew in an effort to cut municipal costs.

At a meeting last week, the Halifax Select Board discussed whether the town could fairly compensate the road crew if it switches from a 45-hour work week to a 40-hour week in the summer.

The Select Board also considered bringing some wages more in accordance with the state’s average pay.

But the road crew is concerned they can’t afford to lose money in the summer months because they say they’re paying more toward their health insurance cost out of pocket.
