Groups Take Aim At Fast Food Marketing

A group of parents and health professionals is taking aim on Ronald McDonald, calling for an end to fast food marketing that targets children.

They’ll gather in Burlington tomorrow for a news conference in which they plan to call on McDonald’s restaurant franchisees to take up the no-marketing-to-kids message to McDonald’s executives in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Volunteers with the group say they’ve gathered over 600 signatures to deliver to one franchisee, to kick off the Vermont phase of the campaign.

Coordinated by a group known as Corporate Accountability International, similar events are planned in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, New York and Portland, Oregon.
