Seniors, telephone workers and others plan to give Governor John Lynch a wheelbarrow filled with thousands of post cards protesting the proposed sale of New Hampshire’s landlines from Verizon to FairPoint Communications.

State regulators are wrapping up hearings this week on the proposed sale.

Opponents plan to deliver the post cards to Lynch this morning opposing the $2.7 billion deal.

Regulators must decide whether FairPoint can handle taking over landlines from Verizon Communications.

Utility regulators in Maine and Vermont already have held their hearings and plan to issue decisions in December. Regulators from all three states must approve the sale.
