A Vermont nonprofit group is seeking funding to expand a Lake Champlain bicycle ferry across a gap in a causeway between Colchester and South Hero.
The group Local Motion plans to run the ferry on weekends this August and on Labor Day weekend.
The Burlington Free Press says the 13-day run will cost about $30,000.
People riding across the gap in the causeway are asked to make donations of a minimum of $5.
The group is halfway toward its long-term goal of raising $1.2 million to make improvements that would include a better docking system and expand the service throughout the summer.
