The Champlain Housing Trust is in the process of reconfiguring a Burlington building so it can become home to a number of clients of a Vermont human services agency.
The HowardCenter will take residents who are being forced to move from a building on land that has been sold by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington.
Gail Rosenburg of the HowardCenter says the apartment building is being reconfigured to replicate the family-like atmosphere where the residents lived.
The St. Paul Street apartment will be able to accommodate 16 Howard Center clients.
The diocese sold the property earlier this year.
The Burlington-based nonprofit Champlain Housing Trust heard of the need for the client’s need for housing, which coincided with the trust’s plans to refurbish the St. Paul Street property.
