A nearly 125-year-old conservation organization has received yet another major grant for its protection of a popular Adirondack lake.

The Lake George Association has announced that it has been awarded $368,000 from the Helen V. Froehlich Foundation for its progressive lake-saving initiatives. It’s the 124-year-old organization’s 16th consecutive award from the Froehlich Foundation.

LGA officials say nearly half of the total award will provide funding for the group’s lake saving projects that protect Lake George’s water quality. The grant will be used as a local match to state and federal funding for several projects in the Lake George watershed.

Some of the funds will be used to help teach lake science to local students as part of the group’s Floating Classroom program.
