Senators Judd Gregg and John Sununu are backing the nomination of federal prosecutor Joseph Laplante to be the next federal judge from New Hampshire.
The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing yesterday on the nomination.
Gregg introduced Laplante to the committee. He said he looks forward to a quick confirmation.
Sununu said Laplante’s experience in the state attorney general’s office, the federal Justice Department and as an assistant federal prosecutor in New Hampshire make him the right person for the job.
Confirmation votes by the committee and full Senate have not yet been scheduled.
