New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg says improving information technology is key to bringing down health care costs.

Gregg spoke yesterday as the Senate Budget Committee opened hearings on the subject. He says Americans spend an extraordinary amount of money on health care but the quality of care is too often harmed by inefficiencies and errors in the system.

Gregg says improved electronic record-keeping would reduce medical errors, lead to better care and give decision-makers more data to evaluate the effectiveness of different treatments.
