Greensboro Among Towns Dealing With Water Issues

The Select Board in Greensboro has approved a plan to create a new fire district in the Greensboro Bend area.

Like many towns across the state, Greensboro is struggling with an old water system.

Bennington is considering a half-million-dollar project to replace old pipes. Rutland is trying to figure out how to pay for upgrades to its own system.

In Greensboro, town officials say a new fire district will make the town eligible for much-needed loans which could then be used to upgrade its existing water system and meet state mandates.

Some Select Board members are concerned residents aren’t aware of the plan, so they’ll soon hold a public hearing to discuss it.
