Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is planning to expand its operations outside Vermont.

And the company is planning to add about 50 jobs in Vermont.

CEO Lawrence Blanford says the new location hasn’t been chosen yet, but will be in the Midwest or South. Blanford says that location gives the company access to large markets in Florida, the Midwest and Middle Atlantic states.

Most of the new Vermont employees will be hired at the company’s Essex plant, which packages single serving cups, for the Keurig system.

The Waterbury-based Green Mountain Coffee Roasters now employs over 1,100 people.
