Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin is in Canada where he’s planning to sign a "cooperation agreement" with Quebec Premier Pauline Marois.
Shumlin and Marois are scheduled to hold a private meeting Monday afternoon in Montreal and then sign the agreement between Vermont and Quebec.
Last summer, Shumlin hosted Marois’s predecessor, Jean Charest, in Burlington during a meeting of New England governors and eastern Canadian premiers.
Energy topics dominated that meeting.
Canada produces an overabundance of hydroelectricity it would like to export to the energy-hungry northeastern United States.
