Gov. Lynch to make majors cuts in NH budget

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch is examining the state budget on every level. He is trying to decide what the state is constitutionally required to fund, and what is essential to fund.

Lynch said on Friday that once he decides on core programs to protect, he will look to change or cut areas that don’t meet that important test. He had named public safety and protecting the state’s most vulnerable people as priorities.

Lynch doesn’t plan to implement a sales or income tax to balance the state budget. He has said that instead, the state must cut spending to balance the books.
