The chairman of the Republican National Committee got a cool reception by some in Burlington last night.

About 125 people – many of them affiliated with labor unions – carried signs, chanted and marched Wednesday to protest an appearance by Reince Priebus.

Priebus is in Vermont to speak at the state GOP’s annual spring dinner, and was criticized by the protesters as an architect of efforts to eliminate collective bargaining rights for unions in Wisconsin and elsewhere.

Protestors marched to a hotel where Priebus was to speak.

He wasn’t impressed with the size of the demonstration, calling it more like a coffee klatch compared to ones held in Wisconsin earlier this year.
