Last week, Americans said goodbye to the food pyramid, an iconic symbol of healthy eating.

The Obama administration has unveiled the food plate, which is meant to give consumers an easier way to understand what constitutes a healthy diet.

The plate was designed by the 2010 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.
