Vermont’s largest electric utility is seeking nominations for its annual Zetterstrom Environmental Award, named for osprey advocate Meeri Zetterstrom.

The award is presented annually to one person, business, group or non-profit to honor a significant contribution to Vermont’s environment.

It will be accompanied by a $2,500 donation to the environmental cause of the winner’s choosing.

Zetterstrom inspired countless Vermonters through her dogged efforts to protect and restore Vermont’s osprey population.

Zetterstrom prompted the state and Central Vermont Public Service to help ospreys by creating artificial nesting platforms and buffer zones. The birds have since been removed from the Vermont endangered species list.
