The head coach of the Vermont Frost Heaves has been fired.

The owner of the minor league basketball team says Jeff Strohm was replaced Friday by assistant coach Joe Salerno of Montpelier.

Frost Heaves owner and general manager Michael Healey would not say why Strohm was let go four months into the job, other than to say he thought it was time to move in another direction.

Strohm told The Barre-Montpelier Times Argus that he is shocked by his dismissal.

The Frost Heaves are 0-3 and at the bottom of the Premier Basketball League standings.
