A food pantry in Freedom is chipping in to help workers at the closing paper mill in Groveton.

The Freedom Food Pantry, part of the First Christian Church, is organizing a food drive to benefit workers at the Wasau Paper mill, which is closing at the end of December. Food pantry workers will begin collecting food on January 2 and hope to be able to deliver it to Groveton by Valentine’s Day.

About 300 people work at the Groveton mill.
