A former Rutland police officer has pleaded no contest to a single count of neglect of duty and agreed to pay a $1,000 fine.

David Schauwecker was accused of removing pornography that had been seized and stored as evidence by fellow Rutland police.

Court documents say that Schauwecker kept the material for his own use.

State police investigated the case and the attorney general’s office negotiated the plea agreement.

Schauwecker appeared in court Thursday and agreed to the fine.
