A former Burlington police officer who exposed a corrupt detective and changed the way the state handles drug cases has died in Florida.

The Burlington Free Press reports Kevin Bradley was 58 and died in Miami last Sunday.

As a rookie police officer Bradley turned in an undercover detective for framing more than 70 innocent people in drug cases. The scandal resulted in pardons for dozens of people convicted on the detective’s testimony and prompted police and prosecutors in the state to adopt better investigative techniques in drug cases.

From police work, Bradley moved on to become prosecutor in Chittenden County and since 1997 had been a federal immigration judge.
