(Host) Police in Toronto say former Norwich University hockey captain Mike Serba remains in critical condition today after he was severely beaten over the weekend.

A detective says Serba is still in a hospital in the city on life support.
Serba graduated from Norwich last year but was still living in Northfield and pursuing graduate studies.

Toronto police say Serba was jumped during a trip from the bar where he’d been with friends to a nearby bank machine.
When Serba and his friends went looking for the attacker, he allegedly struck again, hitting Serba with a brick and then stomping on him several times while he was on the ground.

Twenty-two-year-old Nicholas Crowdis of Toronto was arrested a short time later and has been charged with attempted murder.
