A former "lost boy" will be the keynote speaker today at Champlain College’s observance of Martin Luther King Day.

John Bul Dau, who led groups of displaced Sudanese boys after 27,000 of them were driven from their villages in 1987, ended up in a refugee camp in Kenya and later immigrated to America.

Dau, who was featured in "God Grew Tired of Us," a documentary film about the five-year displacement, has raised $700,000 through his John Dau Suden Foundation and returned to open a clinic in southern Sudan. His address to students and faculty at Champlain College in Burlington is closed to the public.
