The former head of Southwest Vermont Career Development Center in Bennington, who resigned after a complaint was filed against him, will get about $55,000 as part of a severance package.

The agreement with Frank Barone was made public this week. It contains no admission of wrongdoing by either Barone or the center. Instead, it calls for the center to pay him the balance of what he would have received had he not resigned and bars him from suing the district.

The Bennington Banner says Barone had been on paid leave for two months while the unspecified allegation was being investigated.
