Forest Watch closes its doors

A 14-year-old organization dedicated to creating more federally protected wilderness in Vermont, while protecting what now exists, is closing its door.

Forest Watch is handing over its mission to the larger and better-funded Center for Biological Diversity, which is based in Arizona.

That group is opening a regional office in Richmond.

Jim Northup of Forest Watch says the group closed due to money issues and because injuries he suffered in an auto accident kept him from working as hard as he used to.
